Freeware Prop Aircraft.
There are a lot of really great general aviation and other World War 2 aircraft available in X Plane 11 Freeware Download Library.
I have included some of my favorite aircraft below for you to download. I hope you enjoy flying these aircraft which I have flown quite a few in my own videos on LetsFlyVFR YouTube Channel.
The Robin 401 by Aerobask has been a favorite of mine for some time. This was originally a payware aircraft and was then offered to the community as freeware. The aircraft is stable generally and I have flown aerobatics in it as well as stalls and spins. I have found it to have a very realistic feeling flight model. It responds to crosswinds and buffeting, is gentle in a stall but does drop a wing when doing so. I hope you enjoy flying this great aircraft.
LANCAIR FG by Aerobask is a speedy and fun to fly aircraft. It is light on the controls and fast for those cross country trips. It comes with a glass cockpit and GPS ready to get you to your destination. It has the added complexity of prop control along with mixture controls for the best engine performance. Certainly one of my favorites. If you prefer a retractable gear Aerobask have one available as PAYWARE on the org if your interested.
Supermarine Spitfire.
Spitfire Mk IV is a classic fighter we all know and love. Nimble in roll and pitch with the power to push this amazing aircraft to your limits. Head out on some escort missions or combat air patrols in this iconic aircraft.
Turn on combat in X Plane 11 and select some enemies to combat. They will kill you if you don’t see them coming out of the sun. That’s a lot of fun.
Boeing B17 Flying Fortress.
Boeing B-17 Bomber is a big lumbering aircraft. The external modeling is great for a freeware aircraft but the internals leave a bit to be desired. If your looking for some long flights bombing your enemies then hop aboard and enjoy this bit powerful bomber.
P-38 Lightening.
P38 Lightning by is an absolute delight to fly. The power of the two big Merlin engines will make you think you’re invincible. Attack ground targets or take on enemies in Air to Air combat again by turning on combat in the X Plane 11 Options and select some enemies.
Messerschmitt Bf 109 .
Messershmit BF109 is another classic WWII fighter. The modeling and cockpit are very well done and it handles like a dream. All these aircraft have their own quirks like wing stalls so get flying and enjoy the individuality of each of these iconic fighters.
Avro Lancaster Bomber.
Lancaster Bomber by Domhenry is another huge bomber with great external modeling and a good cockpit but moving around the aircraft it lacks detail. The handling is as you would expect in such a big aircraft but still nimble for its size. You will enjoy the long mission you can fly in this iconic aircraft of WWII.
LISA Akoya
Lisa Akoya by AEROBASK is another fun aircraft allowing you to be either a land or water based aircraft. Tour the back blocks of the amazon or Canada as you like without restriction to landing restrictions. Easy to fly and very well detailed this aircraft is a lot of fun. I know you will enjoy this two seater.
Bristol Hurricane
Hurricane Fighter is another fantastic as well is iconic to get in the air with. This aircraft is modeled well including a great cockpit with operating guns also available for combat missions. The handling nimble with those thick wings but not as fast as the Spitfire. You will enjoy learning to take off and land in these iconic WWII aircraft as they will kill you just trying to get into the air.
Conclusion.
X Plane 11 Freeware Download Library is extensive and could go on for a book length with all the aircraft, airports and many other scenery libraries to make X-Plane 11 even more impressive and fun. I hope you take the time to experience the aircraft above for yourself as they are excellent to fly.
