How to get X Plane 11 Scenery Updates Beginners Easy Guide.
X Plane 11 is constantly updated with new airports as well as program improvements on flight models and performance. It is important that we keep X Plane 11 scenery updates as new releases by Laminar Research are made available.
There are also a number of options regarding opting in on Beta releases for X Plane. These Beta releases are prior releases to the full release which can give you access to new features not in the stable version or release version of the simulator.
Whats A Beta Release in X Plane 11.
What is a Beta release in X Plane 11? Beta releases are what comes before most people see in the full release version. These beta are available to everyone if you tick the beta tick box on the updates menu. It is worth understanding that beta releases often can have bugs that may make your experience problematic. If this worries you you should likely avoid them.
I personally like the early access to new features like the Vulcan API when. it came out in X Plane 11.50.
X Plane 11 Updates Download – Lets Start!
There are two ways to get your X Plane 11 scenery updates. One will be automatic, once you start X Plane 11 there will be a notification come up on the main screen giving you the option to exit and update. X Plane 11 can update manually if you have had an issue or you want to either download the BETA release or go from BETA back to RELEASE version.
Lets look at how update x plane 11 scenery and from the BETA version manually. These steps also are part of the automatic update procedure as well as the manual update one. You will need to confirm the installation location, let X Plane 11 check your files as well as check space for the update then do the install.
The first step is to find your X Plane 11 folder and select the X Plane 11 Installer to update the program. The program is found inside your X Plane 11 folder and it should look something like this in your search bar.
C:\X-Plane 11
This is the route directory for X Plane. Its worth noting you can install this program anywhere you like so the front letter could be anything from A to Z. Click on the X-Plane 11 Installer to start doing an update.
Confirm your install Location.
You may be asked to confirm your X Plane 11 install location especially if you have more than one installation. This is not uncommon as some people like to have the stable release version in one location and the Beta release on another.
Select the one you want especially if you have a release version and a Beta Version of X Plane 11. This is pretty common and gives you options to check out new features and not damage your release directory. Select he X Plane 11 update and the process will continue automatically.
System Check. X Plane checks your installed files.
Now you have confirmed the installation of X Plane 11 you wish to update the installer will check what current files you have installed and then download the updates as required.
Once completed you will be greeted with the screen below and you can choose to then run X Plane and enjoy the update, alternatively you can also add or remove scenery, Update X Plane 11 or even install a second copy of X Plane 11 in another location.
The ability to install a second copy of X Plane 11 allows you to have a release version and a Beta version to test out and enjoy and major beta releases before they become a full release version. A great example of this was the introduction of Vulcan API where it was available for months before it become approved and added to the release version of X Plane 11.
X Plane 11 is a fantastic flight simulator, it runs well now it has Vulcan, I am confident there is so much more to come although it may be in X Plane 12 which is surely on the horizon with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020’s released.
