  1. MiG-29A Fulcrum Early Access Release
The legendary Cold War jet is now in Early Access. Key features include:
    • A fully interactive clickable cockpit using 3D laser scanning and photogrammetry. (Stormbirds)
    • Detailed systems: radar warning/countermeasure, IRST (Infrared Search and Track), laser rangefinder, INS based navigation, multiple weapons (R-27 variants, R-73, R-60, 30mm GSH-30-1 cannon), general purpose bombs/rockets. (Stormbirds)
    • Dual language mode: Russian & English for cockpit & voice. (Stormbirds)
    • Known issues: e.g. autopilot oscillations above ~600 km/h, missing brake chute visibility in multiplayer, muzzle flash on cannon needing improvement. These will be patched over time. (Stormbirds)
  2. South Atlantic Map Exits Early Access
The South Atlantic terrain has now been upgraded and formally released out of Early Access. Key enhancements:
    • Airfields optimized for VRAM usage. (Simulation Daily)
    • Improved texture fidelity: airfield textures quadrupled, building materials doubled in resolution. (Simulation Daily)
    • More realistic vegetation distribution (denser, more natural look). (Stormbirds)
    • Lighting & visual fixes, including reactive lights for takeoffs, corrected PAPI lights at Ushuaia, new/radar units, animated wind turbines. (Simulation Daily)
    • Revamped POIs (points of interest), many improved airfields and towns throughout the map. (Simulation Daily)
  3. Weapon & Missile System Overhaul (Especially R-27 Missile Family)
    • The R-27 family gets an advanced model: new CFD-based flight model, realistic control systems (wing actuators), Kalman-type guidance filters, INS & datalink systems, RF/IR seekers etc. (Digital Combat Simulator)
    • New fusing options for bombs, improvements in bomb trajectory and accuracy, adjustments for Soviet and Chinese bomb types. (Digital Combat Simulator)
  4. Quick Action Generator (QAG) Improvements
The Quick Action Generator is becoming more powerful and more reliable. Major changes:
    • Now randomizes enemy units & AI skill levels based on mission type. (ED Forums)
    • Fixes in generation: units no longer getting placed outside map bounds, correct generation for certain types (e.g. Bomber Intercept, Ground Attack) missions. (Digital Combat Simulator)
  5. UI, Mission Editor, Map & Ground / Terrain Enhancements
    • UI upgrades: search bars added (for loadouts, livery & dynamic spawn), better livery selection, streamlined manual/new interface cleanups. (Digital Combat Simulator)
    • Map improvements across various regions: road networks fixed, elevation artefacts resolved, better ground textures, airfield lighting & markings enhancements. (Digital Combat Simulator)

What Players Should Know!

  • If you’ve been waiting for a “Russian 4th-gen dogfighter,” the MiG-29A is a strong step. However, it’s Early Access: some features are still placeholder or under polishing.
  • Map-fanciers will love the graphical & performance improvements, particularly in South Atlantic, which now feels more immersive and stable.
  • The Quick Action Generator updates make it much more reliable for quick mission creation without diving into full Mission Editor setups. Great for casual / quick fly-ins.
  • The R-27 upgrades significantly deepen air combat simulation; missile behaviour will feel more nuanced.

Known Issues & Watch For.

  • MiG-29A still has bugs (visuals, multplayer inconsistencies, etc.) to be addressed.
  • As textures and ground assets get more detailed (especially maps), older hardware may see performance drops unless settings are adjusted.
  • Some UI features are still “Work in Progress” (WIP) and feedback is being collected.
  • NOTE – VR USERS – META – VR returns a BLANK BLACK SCREEN! CAUTION ~~

Final Thoughts

This update positions DCS World closer to its goal of deeper fidelity, especially in Cold War / modern jets, terrain realism, and user mission flexibility. The addition of the MiG-29A Fulcrum is especially hype-worthy, and the South Atlantic map upgrade shows that ED is committed to polishing even terrain modules that had rough early access starts. If you’re in this sim for immersion, this patch is one to download and spend some time with.
