Optimize Your DCS WORLD PERFORMANCE TOOL for AMAZING RESULTS & Its FREE!

You can quickly optimize your DCS World for even better performance with this amazingly good tool offered on the Eagle Dynamics Discord server. The tool is only available on discord so you need to download Discord if you don’t already have it. The tool analyzes your LOG.TXT file and gives you both general and specific recommendations for improving your overall DCS WORLD experience.

DCS DISCORD LOG FILE ANALYSER

I was made aware of this tool by a video from Spud Spike (Linked Below) where he explained how to use the tool in just a few minutes. I have the tool a try last night and to my surprise it did significantly effects some issues I had wit loading and general smoothness in VR.

Pre Optimise Issues.

Personally loading into Heatblur’s 80s server (previously Enigma) I was having significant pauses n the menu where if I moved it to find a slot it would pause while it loaded more information. This seemed to be resolved by changing the size of the Windows Page File Size.

It’s now smooth and trouble free which was a great improvement.

Finding the Tool on Eagle Dynamics Discord.

To find the Discord Log Analyzer simply scroll down the list of sub menus on the Eagle Dynamics Discord page until you see DCS-Log-Analyser. It’s pretty easy to find. So now we have the analyse page open it and your ready to add your log file. Lets go get your Log.File now.

DCS LOG FILE

DCS WORLD PERFORMANCE TOOL

Your DCS log file is located in your saved games directory: The path is : C:\Users\ Your User Name \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Logs

Here you will find the Log.TXT file. It may be there is no extension to the file. That’s OK, windows does do that sometimes but you will see its a Text Document.

Simply copy this file and your ready to go back to the Eagle Dynamics Discord to get your results. If you have a crash log I understand you can also use that to determine what went wrong to crash your game/PC. FOr now lets simply click on the Log file and copy it.

First Who Created the App and How Does it Work?

Eagle Dynamics offers a DCS Log Analyzer on their official Discord server, designed to assist users in diagnosing issues by analyzing their DCS log files. Developed by the Eagle Dynamics team, the tool was created to provide immediate feedback and recommendations for resolving game crashes or performance problems.

Users can upload their dcs.log files to the analyzer, which then examines the contents for errors, warnings, and system information, offering insights into potential issues and suggesting corrective actions. The analyzer delves into various system settings recorded in the log, such as CPU details, system and process affinity masks, and other relevant configurations.

For instance, it can identify if the log is outdated or detect shader-related issues that might affect performance. While the tool provides valuable insights, users are encouraged to consult the official DCS forums or support channels for more comprehensive assistance.

Where is the tool?

The DCS Log Analyzer, available on Eagle Dynamics’ official Discord server, is designed to help users identify and resolve common issues that may affect DCS World performance. By analyzing the dcs.log files, the tool can detect problems such as outdated logs, shader complications, and system configuration mismatches.

Types of Issues it Resolves.

For instance, it can highlight if the log files are not up-to-date or if there are shader-related errors that could degrade performance. In terms of general performance optimization, the analyzer offers recommendations like enabling XMP or DOCP/EXPO in motherboard settings to optimize memory performance, updating graphics drivers to the latest versions to ensure compatibility.

It also looks at efficiency, and offers advice on disabling unnecessary background applications to free up system resources. Additionally, it may suggest adjusting in-game graphics settings, such as lowering resolution or disabling certain visual effects, to achieve a smoother gameplay experience. While the analyzer provides valuable insights, users are encouraged to consult the official DCS forums or support channels for more comprehensive assistance.

Now the Magic Happens.

Return to Eagle Dynamics DIscord server and click on the DCS – Log Analyser tab to open it up. In the open message line where you would normally type a message click with your mouse. Click in the box and paste your Log File in there. Hit enter and the magic will happen automatically.

A report showing your your PC specifications will appear along with a number of tabs to select to get additional information and tips located under that box.

DCS WORLD PERFORMANCE TOOL

Button 1 – INFO just tells you about your own system. Its CPU, RAM, GPU and more.

Button 2 – ERRORS – Hilights any issues with your system currently and how to correct them.

Button 3 – ADVICE – Gives you just that, general advice on what the app thinks you can do to improve performance.

Button 4 – TUNING – Offers more advanced tuning advice and this is specific to your PC setup.

Button 5 – CANCEL – Stops the app.

1. ERROR PAGE – ADVICE

This is the first page you are greeted with and it had some good suggestions within it of which I have enabled some and not yet checked others.

Change Your Page File – This alleviated long loading times on the Heatblur Login page for me as it would lock and stutter – Now its a smooth experience. Very Happy!

To change the page file (virtual memory) size in Windows 11, navigate to Advanced system settings, then Performance Options, and adjust the virtual memory settings under the Advanced tab, specifically by selecting “Change” under “Virtual Memory” and choosing “Custom size”.

In my case the Log Analyser recommended a figure which I used. This recommendation may be different for each user. (Google Advice)

Disable Core Parking – I have yet to check this advice. I may have already done this but if your on Intel i believe parking your ECORES and letting your Pcores get busy could be an advantage.

How: To disable CPU core parking in Windows 11, navigate to the Registry Editor: WIN + R then write regedit in the box. Copy the string below and past it into the address box at the top of the registry editor. Then look for the ATTRIBUTES in the window of different files. Change the 1 to 0 and exit. You’re all done.

registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583, and change the value of the “Attribute” key from “1” to “0”  (Google Advice)

Done! Will see if there is any significant difference. (Windows won’t let me take a screen shot in REGEDIT, so no picture you show you unfortunately).

Verify Windows Configurations is correct:

1. Game Mode Disabled. Done! – To disable Game Mode in Windows 11, navigate to Settings > Gaming > Game Mode and toggle the switch to “Off” (Google Advice)

2. Hardware Accelerated GPU scheduling disabled. Mine was on still – Not now.
To disable Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling in Windows 11, navigate to Settings > System > Display > Graphics, then toggle off the switch for “Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling”. (Google Advice)

3. Core Isolation disabled. To check if Core Isolation is disabled, navigate to Windows Security > Device Security > Core Isolation details and see if “Memory integrity” is toggled off.
To disable Core Isolation’s Memory Integrity in Windows 11, open Windows Security, navigate to Device Security, and then toggle the “Memory Integrity” switch to the Off position. You may need to restart your device for the changes to take effect. (Google Advice)

2. ADVICE PAGE – TUNING

The Tuning page is just that – Specific advice for your PC and items you can address to improve more performance and a fantastic DCS World experience next time you fly into battle.

DCS WORLD PERFORMANCE TOOL
  1. Disable Tacview for performance reasons. It’s been noted for a while that TACVIEW does eat up some performance, but you have to decide if you need a few FPS, or you want to review your flights. Priority?
Mine is to review how I died HAHA, so I kept it.
  2. Disable civilian traffic. Good advice if you don’t have the headroom. Civilian objects take up CPU resources. Done!
  3. Turn down Anisotropic Filtering. I lowered mine from X16 to X8 and didn’t see any degradation visually.

So as it says these are PERSONAL RECOMMENDATIONS for my own system. Every system is different so yours could be totally different from the recommendations I have been offered.

Was it worth the 5 minutes to do?

In optimising my system with most of the advice has certainly made some of the issues I was having disappear. So it was certainly worth while on my part. I also not that the loading into the Heatblur 80’s server was quite a lot faster, so maybe previously it loaded to disk but now is loading into memory with 32 GB of page file available in RAM and not just pushing it to disk.

Ill check my Disk usage next time I log on and see if it has dropped. Previously it was pretty busy. Having 64GB of ram certainly seems to have some additional advantages if this is why?

So, over all this is a great tool by Eagle Dynamics and their team plus everyone can use it to make their DCS WORLD experience even better. Also I’d like again to point out if you have a CRASH file in the folder you can also upload that to possibly find a remedy to why your having problems.

Thanks again to SPUD SPIKE for bringing this tool to light and EAGLE DYNAMICS for taking the time to create the tool and especially making it available to the community. Thanks 🙂
